China is a mysterious, ancient and breathtaking country which is attractive for people who love adventure and experiencing brand new things. This is a country that cannot be fully explored even after months of exploration. The third largest country in the world is packed with many different types of terrain which is quite logical. People can travel to the Tibetan Plateau or visit the large valleys with dense population. They can also check the river banks of some of the longest rivers in the world – Huang He and Yangtze and a huge desert known as Gobi Desert.
One of the greatest things about China and the reason why so many people from around the globe travel to this Asian country every year is the rich history of this country that spreads over thousands of years. China was an ancient kingdom and today it is People’s Republic which has positioned itself as an economic and military power. It will take a lot of pages to mention all the things that you can visit while you are there on vacation, so we have decided to make short list.
First of all, you can visit the capital – Beijing. This city is more than 3000 years old. In the center of Beijing you will find the Forbidden City which was once the home of the famous Ming and Ching dynasties. Beihai Park is another attraction in Beijing that you should visit. This is the greenest place in the capital city. In addition, you should visit the Tiananmen Square, the Old Summer Palace, The Great Wall, The Temple of Haven and the “New” Summer Palace.
Of course, China is much more than the capital city of Beijing. So, you can also visit the Karst Mountains in south China in the Yangshuo province. This area is completely different than the one found around Beijing. Furthermore, you can also visit Hangzhou, the city that was visited by Marco Polo more than 700 years ago. Potala Palace was once the home of Dalai Lama, but it is now a popular museum. Finally, don’t miss the great pandas in Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou national park.
